ABSTRACT

The volatile oil of Chuanxiong Rhizoma(CX) is known as an effective fraction. In order to seek a suitable method for processing CX and its decoction pieces, this study selected 16 volatile components as indices to investigate how different processing methods such as washing/without washing, sun-drying, baking, oven-drying and far-infrared drying at different temperatures affected the quality of CX and its decoction pieces(fresh CX was partially dried, cut into pieces, and then dried) by headspace gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS), cluster analysis, principal component analysis and comprehensive weighted scoring. The results showed that the rapid washing before processing did not deteriorate the volatile components of CX. Considering the practical condition of production area, oven-drying was believed to be more suitable than sun-drying, baking, and far-infrared drying. The CX decoction pieces with a thickness of 0.3-0.4 cm were recommended to be oven-dried at 50 ℃. The integrated processing(partial drying, cutting into pieces, and drying) did not cause a significant loss of volatile components. For the fresh CX, the oven-drying at 60 ℃ is preferred. The temperature should not exceed 60 ℃, and drying below 60 ℃ will prolong the processing time, which will produce an unfavorable effect on volatile components. This study has provided the scientific evidence for field processing of CX, which is conducive to realizing the normalization and standardization of CX processing in the production area and stabilizing the quality of CX and its decoction pieces.

ABSTRACT

Medicinal animal resource is an important component of traditional Chinese medicine resource. With the decreasing of wild medicinal animal resources, it is necessary to carry out the artificial breeding of medicinal animal to ensure the sustainable development of traditional Chinese medicine industry. There are 106 kinds of medicinal animals in Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2015 Edition), only 22 species (except livestock and poultry) of them have selection or breeding standards, while most of the 211 legislations are local standards. It is far behind the degree of agricultural standardization which can not achieve standardized production of animal medicinal materials. It is urgent to establish a technical standard system for production and processing of medicinal materials of animal-derivative, including basic, product, process, safety, environmental protection, management and working standards for common animal medicinal materials, which can fill the gap of industry and control the quality of animal medicinal materials, animal Chinese herbal pieces and products containing animal ingredients from the source.

ABSTRACT

Objective To optimize the method for integration of field processing and crude drug preparation of Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (AR) and to provide scientific evidence for the procedure of AR. Methods Four main factors including drying temperature of the fresh herbal medicine, the water content of the medicine, thickness of the products, and the drying temperature of decoction pieces were studied by using single factor experiment and orthogonal test. The content of timosaponin B-Ⅱ and mangiferin and the appearance of the products were selected as evaluation indexes to optimize the integral processing of AR by using comprehensive evaluating method. The changing of the body temperature of yeast-induced rat model was used to compare the antipyretic activity between the two processing technologies (the integration technology and traditional technology). The content of the blood glucose, insulin, and glycosylated serum proteins (GSP) in the blood of the STZ-induced diabetic rat model were selected as the evaluation indexes to compare the hypoglycemic activity between the two processing technologies. Results AR was dried at 50 ℃ for 11 h (water content of medicinal materials was 45%—50%), and then the flosses were knocked off in the drum for 30 min. The results showed that 40—50 ℃ was the best drying temperature, 45%—50% was the best water content, and then unhairing process were conducted for AR for 30 min. The thickness of the slice was 4 mm and the best drying temperature was 50 ℃. There were no significant differences in chemical composition and hypoglycemic activity between the integration technology and traditional technology, while the antipyretic effect of the integrated processing was better than that of the traditional technology. Conclusion The technology of integration of field processing and crude drug processing is feasible and it can be used in industrial production.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To optimize a technology of integration on field processing and processing crude drugs of Polygoni Multiflori Radix (PMR) and to provide the scientific evidence for the integration of PMR. Methods: Orthogonal test was used to optimize the integration technology on primary processing and reprocessing with two major characteristic components (stilbene glucoside and combined anthraquinone). To compare the differences between the integration technology and traditional technology on pharmacological activity by models of constipation and swelling of ear in mice with Various index (small intestinal propulsion rate, first defecation time, fecal water content, swelling degree of ear, and inflammatory factors). Results: The results showed that the integration technology of 50℃, 16 h was better, and there was significant difference in chemical composition and Laxative effect between the integration technology and traditional technology. The anti-inflammatory effect of the integrated process was better than that of the traditional technology. Conclusion: The technology of integration of field processing and processing crude drugs is feasible and the operation is good.
